Applied AI · Product engineering · Open to work

I build AI that runs on your own machine, and the products around it.

7+ years shipping production web apps in Angular, React and TypeScript. On my own time: a local AI assistant, Rust desktop apps people pay for, and applied cryptography. This page was generated by werbos.design, one of those projects.

§ Two things I built

I built an AI. And a website builder that doesn't need one.

werbos is my own AI, built from scratch and run on my own hardware. werbos.design is a site generator with no AI in it at all.

The AI

werbos

An AI you actually own.

A local-first AI agent system I built from scratch: agent loop with tool calling, RAG, memory, an eval harness and LoRA fine-tuning, all on open-weight models. Off-grid by default, and it never phones home. Every day of the build is written up in a public log.

The website builder

werbos.design

A website builder with no LLM in it.

Describe a site and get a finished, on-brand page back, composed deterministically from a brief: the same brief makes the same site, offline, for about $0 a build. No templates to pick, no model to pay for.

Then I dogfooded it: every section of this page came out of werbos.design. See the brief it was built from.

§ How this page was made

I built the generator that built this page.

No template and no hand-written markup. The words are mine; the page came out of werbos.design, a site generator I wrote, from the brief shown here. No LLM and no API key: the same brief makes the same site, every time.

02TallybookBookkeeping and a household budget on your own computer. Rust + Tauri + React, bank sync, paid plans. Live at tallybook.app.
03murmur + habloVoice AI that runs on-device: hold-to-talk dictation on whisper.cpp, and an offline Spanish tutor on llama.cpp.
04WRITEpadA script-writing desk for Mac and Windows with A/B drafts, local narration, and an MCP server so agents can edit.
05Trustless VotingBlind signatures, zk-SNARKs and threshold crypto: private, verifiable voting at 1M voters in 3m 33s.
06werbos.designThis site. A brief in, a polished site out, with no LLM and about $0 per build. It made the page you are reading.

§ Process

How I work.

01

Scope it plainly

Loose requirements in, a written plan and its tradeoffs out, before code.

02

Build with agents, check like a human

AI coding agents for speed; my own review, tests and CI for quality.

03

Ship and verify

Signed installers, real-browser checks, and audits that end in patches.

§ Story

How I got here.

≤2016

3D technical director

Rigging characters for animation teams. The technical side pulled me into code (Dev Bootcamp, 2016).

2016

Freelance & frontend

Full-stack apps for startups and small businesses, from scoping to launch.

2019

GROW

Frontend developer for 7 years: Lectern (2,000+ tests), a compliance LMS serving 5,000+ orgs, 50+ client sites.

2026

Security research

HackerOne as mrblackkeys. First accepted finding in Twilio's bug bounty program.

§ FAQ

Questions, answered.

What roles are you looking for?

Applied AI engineer, AI product engineer, forward deployed engineer, or solutions engineer. Full-time.

Where can you work?

Based in Sacramento, CA. Open to relocating anywhere in the US, or remote.

Most of your repos are private. Can I see the code?

Yes. Email me and I'll walk you through any of it on a call.

Did an AI write this page?

No LLM touched it. werbos.design composes sites deterministically from a brief: same brief, same site.
